PSB 2017 in Matsue city in Shimane prefecture, Japan

Dear Colleagues, we are pleased to invite you to participate in the 5th International Symposium on Plant Signaling and Behavior to be held in Shimane which is one of most traditional region backed by the Shintoist mythology in Japan. The symposium will be held from June 27 to July 1, 2017, at Shimane Prefectural Convention Center (Matsue city), under the auspices of the Society of Plant Signaling and Behavior, the International Laboratory of Plant Neurobiology (LINV) at Kitakyushu installed in 2015 and International Photosynthesis Industrialization Research Center.

The plenary lectures will be given by leading scientists in diverse fields of plant signaling, ion transport, electro-physiology, photosynthesis, autophagy and programmed cell death. Like the previously held PSB meetings, the next symposium will provide an excellent opportunity for the synthesis of different views in the mutual attempt to develop concepts for the whole plant behavior and signal processing.

As mentioned above, Shimane prefecture (capital, Matsue city) is one of the core of Japanese history and ancient mythology of Shintoism. The excursions to attractive places such as a national treasure Matsu castle (original wooden tower built in 1607) and Izumo Taisha Shrine which is one of the oldest Shintoist shrines (lasting over millennia since prehistorical age) are planned. We are looking forward to discovering deeper side of Japan together!
